August Member of the Month
The Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize The Grand Lagoon Yacht Club as our Member of the Month!
Grand Lagoon Yacht Club was founded on February 15, 1968, by about 50 families working together to provide a safe place for local kids to get interested in water activities. In the beginning, there were no boats and very little money. Volunteers worked evenings and weekends to build a small fleet of boats and picnic tables. A small house near the water was renovated and used as a clubhouse.
GLYC was built bigger and better in its current location. Employees were hired and membership grew. Members who were here for that period, have fond memories of getting together during this time at the temporary building with campfires, music and limited food and beverage.
