Perdido Key to host Mardi Gras Street Party
Free event will feature live music, children’s activities and bead toss

Pensacola, Fla. (January 26, 2010) – The Perdido Key Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 2nd annual Mardi Gras Street Party on Saturday, February 13th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Villagio, 13700 Perdido Key Drive.  The free event will feature a live band playing New Orleans style music, a secured children’s area featuring face painting and a jumping castle, food vendors, drink specials and a bead toss. There will also be a 50/50 cash raffle.

The event will also offer a special VIP Reveler section. For $25, participants may purchase a VIP Reveler armband which will grant them access to the top balcony, and allow them to participate in the bead toss ceremony.  VIP Revelers also receive a bag of beads for use during the bag toss, and will receive half off drink prices for the entire event.  Children’s VIP tickets are also available for $10, and include a child-sized bag of throw beads. VIP Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the Perdido Key Chamber at 492-4660 or from the Chamber VIP tent on the day of the event.

This event is a tourist development off-season event designed to give residents and visitors an alternative to traveling to Mardi Gras parades in downtown Pensacola or neighboring Orange Beach. “We had a terrific turnout last year, with nearly 500 revelers enjoying the festivities,” said Dana Story, Perdido Key Chamber of Commerce, “This event, along with our flotilla parade, are Mardi Gras events that are unique to Perdido Key. Our events are family-friendly and continue to draw residents and visitors of all ages.”

The event is also offering opportunities for non-profits and businesses to capture the audience’s attention. Non-profits are invited to set up a fundraising table at no charge, provided they offer a fun game or activity at their booth.  Businesses can take advantage of the event by purchasing a banner sponsorship or vendor space.

The cost for a banner sponsorship or 10’x 20’ vendor space is just $100. Banner sponsorship and vendor space packages are also available for $150.
